Thursday Night Football is an undeniable fan-favorite break for the midweek. But, it might not always be easy to stream TNF if you don’t know where to look. This deal, which is slated to last for 11 seasons, is the first digitally exclusive deal between the NFL and a streaming service.
NFL Strikes 10-Year Deal With Amazon
The NFL is always looking for ways to bring football to its loyal fan base. In 2021, the National Football League signed an agreement with Amazon’s streaming television service, Prime, to be the exclusive provider of Thursday Night Football online. Now through 2033, Amazon will air no less than 11 to 15 games on Thursday nights during the regular season. It’s important to note that FOX will continue to showcase some Thursday Night Football games through the 2021/2022 season.
So, how much is Amazon spending to have exclusive rights to stream Thursday Night Football online? Approximately $1 billion each year. Considering that the NFL is the most watched television in the United States, the new partnership with Amazon might be a steal for the streaming service. It is important to note here that Amazon Prime members will not be required to pay an additional fee to stream Thursday Night Football.

About Thursday Night Football
Thursday Night Football debuted in 2006 on Thanksgiving day. The original telecast was a part of Run To The playoffs, which showcased eight games on the holiday weekend. Since 2012, Thursday Night Football has been available beginning on week two of the regular NFL season. For many years, FOX had the rights to air Thursday Night Football simultaneously with the NFL Network. However, once the NFL Network signed an agreement with Amazon, FOX opted out of the final year of its contract, leaving Amazon with an extra year to stream Thursday Night Football to fans across the country.
Before 2006, Thursday Night Football was aired sporadically, often the result of postponed Sunday games. The first Thursday Night Football game was played between the Denver Broncos and the Kansas City Chiefs.
In addition to streaming online through Amazon Prime, Thursday Night Football is also available on audio via Westwood One, with Ian Eagle providing game-time commentary.
Find TNF On Amazon Prime
When you sign up for an Amazon Prime membership, all you have to do is go to Amazon’s home screen. Thursday Night Football should already be there. However, you may have to switch to Amazon’s live tab from the main menu or search for Thursday Night Football.
Watch The Thanksgiving Day Game Online
Although Amazon Prime will stream Thursday Night Football, Thanksgiving Day games are a different ball game altogether. While the NFL remains a part of Thanksgiving day tradition for families across the US, Amazon will not broadcast on Thanksgiving day. Instead, FOX, CBS, and NBC will continue to air live games on Thanksgiving Thursday, at least through the 2021 season. Each of the three games are played at a different time, with kickoff for Game One at 12:30 PM, Game Two at 4:30 PM, and Game Three at 8:20 PM, Eastern. The schedule may change in the upcoming years, so check your local listings to see whether Amazon will stream Thursday Night Football on Thanksgiving in 2022 and beyond.
